In the news 📰

Europe has adopted a declaration on the use of bicycles. The statement is intended to highlight the importance of cycling in the further development of Europe. Indeed, cycling is an engine of innovation and growth, Europe said. Through this declaration, the three European institutions committed to providing safer bicycle parking facilities and more charging points for electric bikes. As well as to promote a safe cycling network within regions and cities. Source  

Approval has been given at the port of Antwerp to deliver packages of up to 15 kilograms by drone. The company ADLC will be allowed to carry out these flights. Moves between left and right banks take about 1 hour by car/truck, this can now be done in 10 minutes. In the future, the company hopes to be allowed to deliver packages up to 200 kg in the port of Antwerp. Source

32 per cent of Belgian workers used the bicycle for his/her commute. This for the full distance or as pre- and/or post-work transport. The share of electric cyclists also rises from 24 to 28 per cent. 30 per cent of cyclists also want to cycle more, so a decline in bicycle use is certainly not yet to be expected. Source

In July and August, under-27s can enjoy unlimited use of regional and intercity trains in France for €49. So it does not concern high-speed trains. Source

New electric fast charging points (installed from 13 April 2024) must have a payment terminal. This way, you no longer need the charging card of the fast charging point in question, but can also pay with your bank card.  Source

The tool MyBike, to detect bicycle thefts faster, is now coming to Flanders and Wallonia. Using a QR code, it can be seen whether a bike has been stolen or not. Source
